Ignorance is a key component of election management methods in use by both parties.
Keeping ignorance alive concerning Ron Paul is demonstrated at the debates by the minimizing Paul's time and asking dumb questions designed to make Paul out to be a conspiricy nut. So far Paul seems to be far too smart for such election management methods.
